I decide against going back to Holoman AFB for the second day.
I've already seen it all, so it would have been totally redundant.
Also, the Z-Trans does not run on Sunday, and there is no taxi
service that goes out to the base. I won't walk 4 hours for that baloney
so forget it!
The X-Prize Foundation does
give Armadillo a second day to try to beat the
lander challenge. Actually, that is the type of competition it is, try as you might
for two days if you can.
Is Carmak the only one the Gods approve of?
People tell me that this sort of thing is incredibly difficult to acheive.
On the other hand, it just doesn't look good or seem right that Carmak was the
only player in this competition two years in a row.
There were alot of teams that tried to step up to bat, but none did.
I'm sorry but I can't root for you Armadillo for next year.
That is to say, you got two whole years to get
it right without any real competition, and you blew it!
In addition, I certainly won't go back to the X-Prize Cup for 2008 unless something amazing
convinces me otherwise. I really didn't have much fun there this year.
Somehow it would not surprise me at all if Carmak was still the only guy to be
able to attempt the challenge, and he still messes up.
Look, here is a link to his failure on Sunday. This in no way
amazes me
Armadillo Failure
Something good happens though. I get a good deal on a Wi-Fi card for my laptop
from some cool people, so now I can gripe and moan about life and
humanities lack of space travel capabilities and other important
issues wherever I go. If they chase me down for my opinions then
I can just go someplace else to upload my brilliant insights.
